last year, when i left my big job in the city for one here in the 'burbs, i got myself a bike. one of the benefits to taking a job so close to home was the opportunity to get more time in the community and the potential for riding a bike to work on nice summer days. i searched for months for the perfect bike on craigslist - knowing exactly what i wanted. vintage, more than three gears, with a step through frame.
i found one about 20 minutes from my house, and bought it from an elderly Japanese man who had owned the bike since the 70's. it was immaculately cared for.
with the kind of winter we've been having, i've been itching to begin the two-wheeled commute season. i'm giving the rain two more weeks and then, it's on.
